INFORMATIONS SUR LE BAGROUND

À New York, dans les années 1990, le street artist Brian Donnelly, alias KAWS, customisait les publicités. Sur les affiches, il remplaçait les mannequins célèbres par un personnage de bande dessinée fictif aux yeux cernés. Véritable signature de KAWS, cette figure au visage caractéristique devint rapidement la coqueluche du grand public et conquit le monde de l’art dans une irrésistible marche triomphale. Depuis, les deux X X ont évolué en un concept artistique innovant qui s’est répandu dans toute la culture pop. KAWS a élargi le répertoire de ses personnages pour les rendre plastiques. Il est aujourd’hui l’un des artistes les plus prisés de notre époque. Dans des sculptures plus grandes que nature, ses personnages ont fait leur apparition dans de nombreux endroits de la planète, comme s’ils en faisaient partie en chair et en os. Partout où ils sont exposés ou édités en de rares exemplaires, galeries et musées sont alors pris d’assaut par les fans, amateurs et acheteurs du monde entier.

Plus connu sous le pseudo de KAWS, Brian Donnelly (né en 1974) est un artiste et designer américain. Déjà maintes fois vendus aux enchères, ses travaux sont régulièrement exposés dans les plus grandes galeries du monde. Il vit et travaille à New York.
