BEING THERE / LA CAMÉRA OBSERVE

Les photographies de paysages de Michael Levin dégagent une aura magique. Dans les images on ressent un profond silence dans chaque moindre détail. Cette impression est obtenue par le photographe grâce à de longs temps de pose. Ces objets statiques comme les passerelles, les ponts, les pilots aux contours précis se détachent de l’environnement en perpétuel mouvement. Les traces de toute civilisation humaine sont en contraste avec la nature changeante, qui semble être en train de passer à un nouvel état.

Ce qui bouge est réduit à une seule forme que ce soit les nuages, l’eau, les oiseaux de mer ou même un pêcheur dans son œuvre « Zebrato » (2005) réalisé sur la Côté Amalfitaine. Il s’agit d’un juste milieu entre l’allongement des corps et des phénomènes naturels pendant un temps de pose donné. Ainsi, dans ses compositions uniques, le photographe  tisse un lien évident entre l’espace et le temps. Les oiseaux de mer (Seven Birds, 2004) illustrent parfaitement ces temps de pose en devenant des formes abstraites à l’horizon, oiseaux qui semblent investis d’une vie autonome.

L’œil n’est jamais rassasié aux vues de ces mondes fantastiques, qui transmettent cette impression d’être physiquement dans un espace sublime, dans lesquels les lois de la nature semblent être abrogées. Ce rayonnement très à part de ces mises en scène magistrales dans un dégradé de tons de gris a également convaincu l’œil du collectionneur.
